126 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine LAW AND LAW ENFORCEMENT Supported by more than 40 years of experience and a formative interest in both the legal and automotive industries, Joseph Samuel Folz II is a retired general counsel, vice president and secretary at Porsche Cars North America Inc. Entering formal retirement in 2019, he initially joined Porsche in 2010 and maintained responsibility for disseminating legal guidance to all areas of the company, as well as remaining abreast of trade regulation developments. During his tenure, Mr. Folz was crucial in bringing the Porsche Experience Center to fruition, a groundbreaking project that saw the construction of a building and two test tracks where individuals can drive the Porsche of their choice. Mr. Folz was inspired to enter the field of law by his paternal grandfather, who was a respected lawyer. Attending Kalamazoo College in the 1970s, Mr. Folz went on to earn a BA in economics and business administration in 1975. Three years later, he received a JD from the University of Michigan Law School and was admitted to the State Bar of Michigan in 1979. Formerly eligible to practice law in Virginia until 2010, he subsequently became licensed to practice in Georgia in 2011. Throughout his career, Mr. Folz worked for several automotive companies, including Chevrolet, General Motors and Volkswagen of America Inc. While serving with Volkswagen, Mr. Folz was recognized as the executive vice president of corporate relations, general counsel and secretary between 1979 and 2008. During this time, he successfully represented Volkswagen in several challenging legal matters. With a firm reputation throughout Atlanta, Mr. Folz undertook various initiatives during his career. While with Porsche, he founded the Atlanta Aerotropolis Alliance, aimed at promoting economic development in Southside Atlanta, and served on the board of directors of the Atlanta Airport Chamber of Commerce, the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce and the Airport Area Community Improvement District. As a testament to his success, Mr. Folz earned awards from the National Association of Minority Automobile Dealers and the Atlanta Aerotropolis Alliance. Looking ahead, Mr. Folz intends to make meaningful contributions to his community in Florida as he continues enjoying his retirement.
