Dr. Block has accepted various accolades throughout his career, such as a Best Paper Award from the Journal of Advertising Research, a Teacher-Scholar Award from Michigan State University and a Best Faculty Award from Northwestern University. Equipped with expertise in advertising, marketing and integrated marketing communications, Dr. Martin P. Block is an esteemed educator and has been recognized as professor emeritus at Northwestern University since 2023. Joining the prestigious university in 1985, he ascended the ranks multiple times and played an instrumental role in transforming the department of advertising into the department of integrated marketing communications, which he chaired for 10 years. In addition to these feats, Dr. Block established a graduate-level professional program and an undergraduate certificate program at the university. Dr. Block held several concurrent responsibilities at Northwestern University, having complemented his teaching experience with various administrative tasks, such as applying analytics to marketing issues, which had a lasting impact on its various departments and alumni on a global scale. Earlier in his career, Dr. Block rose through the ranks at Michigan State University until attaining the position of full professor. There, he specialized in advertising research and chaired the department of advertising between 1980 and 1985. Dr. Block’s history with Michigan State University began during his formative years as an undergraduate student, having earned a Bachelor of Arts in advertising, a Master of Arts and a PhD.
