After earning a BS at the University of Michigan, he ultimately achieved an MD at Wayne State University. Furthermore, he completed pertinent residencies and fellowships at several institutions, including Harvard Medical School, the Detroit Medical Center and the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. To commemorate his accomplishments, Dr. Prasad has been honored with several accolades, including the Best of Anchorage Award under the cancer treatment category from the Anchorage Award Program from 2017 to 2024 and is annually voted Top Doctor in his specialty from Alaska Business Daily. Attributing much of his success to the love and support of his family and colleagues, he is particularly proud of his efforts in training new residents and the next generation of medical professionals. Leveraging several decades of practiced expertise, he has managed his own medical practice, Far North Surgery, since 2014. Serving as a general surgeon and surgical oncologist, Dr. Prasad specializes in various forms of surgery, including abdominal, endocrine, gastrointestinal tract and minimally invasive surgeries. He is also a master surgeon in robotic surgery. Previously, Dr. Prasad founded the Henry Ford Innovation Institute, as part of the Henry Ford Health System, where he acted as the organization’s executive director and medical director from 2010 to 2014. Furthermore, as part of his ongoing commitment to his profession, he continues to participate as a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American Gastroenterological Association and the Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Tract.
