Saint Matthews, SC Bruce Dale Monroe is an information technology and security expert celebrating more than 35 years of leadership in his field. He currently serves as a principal engineer on AMD’s private security response career, where his work primarily involves incident response, often for vulnerabilities affecting high-profile clients across multiple industries. Mr. Monroe’s professional journey began while serving in the United States Navy. A gifted high school athlete, he won a state JCE tennis doubles competition at just 16 years old and received three tennis scholarship offers before graduating high school. Though interested in pursuing a college education, Mr. Monroe was deterred by his family’s financial constraints and looked at other options, including military service. Following in the footsteps of his father and grandfather, high-ranking Army and United States Marine Corps members, he decided to join the Navy after scoring highly enough on assessment tests to qualify for high-level electronics training. Mr. Monroe spent the next 12 years in the Navy, six of which focused on specialized training or educating others in electronics, radar and weapons systems, and software. His daily responsibilities included maintenance and deployment of radar systems and equipment firmware, and he worked on both the Tomahawk and Harpoon missile systems. By the time of his retirement from active duty in 1992, Mr. Monroe had attained the rank of fire controlman first class, with a final assignment as lead petty officer for the fire control division aboard the USS Texas. During this assignment, he was placed in a dual role as a cybersecurity officer, underscoring his diverse technical experience and reputation for leadership excellence in critical situations. After retiring from the Navy, Mr. Monroe joined Intel, initiating what would become a 28-year career with the company. He began as a technical support specialist and quickly worked his way up, excelling at a variety of roles and further refining his technical background as consumer technology applications evolved. During his time with Intel, Mr. Monroe was the recipient of accolades, including 15 divisionlevel awards.
