Atkins, a distinguished expert in safety and health management, draws on more than 40 years of professional experience. Since 2016, he has served as the chief of safety and occupational health with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, where his efforts have been crucial in implementing a comprehensive safety and health management system. His leadership has been characterized by operational improvements, paving the way for streamlined decision-making processes and financial recovery. Alongside this role, Mr. Atkins is the chief technology officer of Renaissance Assets, focusing on the development of innovative projects to address and enhance humankind. Among other noteworthy objectives, Renaissance Assets conducts research in neuromodulation and 3D bioprinting, which are poised to revolutionize health care treatment modalities of Alzheimer’s disease and various forms of cancer. Earlier in his career, Mr. Atkins served as the director of safety and health for the U.S. Army, where he managed the welfare of over 1.2 million soldiers and civilian employees worldwide and improved communication and collaboration efforts within the Army. Similarly, he was the deputy commander and director of safety and health for the Army Air Operations Group at Joint Forces Headquarters in Washington, DC, and the president of American Safety Solutions LLC in Newport News, Virginia. To prepare for his career, Mr. Atkins attended Regents College (now Excelsior University), graduating magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in liberal arts in 1999. Thereafter, he matriculated at East Texas A&M University, graduating summa cum laude with a Master of Science in industrial engineering and safety management in 2001. Impressively, Mr. Atkins holds an ANSI certificate from the American National Standards Institute and is a certified safety and health manager through the Institute of Safety and Health Management. As a testament to his success, Mr. Atkins has earned numerous accolades and military decorations, including the Legion of Merit, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Air Medal, the Army Commendation Medal and the Superior Civilian Service Award, among others.
