At the inception of his career, Dr. Avila served in the U.S. Army between 1971 and 1975, where he was a member of the Elite Special Forces. Following this tenure, he taught science for the Puerto Rico Department of Education from 1976 to 1986 and, later, chemistry laboratory courses from 1992 to 1993, following additional military service in the early 1990s. He also thrived as a physics department researcher at the University of Puerto Rico in 1993, during which time, he collaborated with NASA on an earth science education program. Furthermore, Dr. Avila was the president and owner of EBINC-CINCE Inc. and boasts a diverse background in law enforcement. Dr. Avila is most acclaimed for inventing a thermoelectric battery and power plant capable of producing clean energy. In addition, he developed antigravity theories and technology to mitigate the negative effects of climate change. Driven to enact meaningful change in society, Dr. Avila has worked diligently on research to restore the ozone layer in the stratosphere and develop seismographs for early earthquake detection. He also authored “Space is Not Empty,” a scientific publication that has challenged the conventional understanding of physics. To attest to his success, he was named the International Outstanding Scientist of the Year for 2005-2006 and earned an Editor’s Choice Award in 2007. Dr. Avila holds a BA in chemistry and general science from InterAmerican University of Puerto Rico, as well as several undergraduate and graduate degrees in science education from New York University. He also earned a DSc in particle astrophysics and a postdoctoral degree in quantum physics and artificial intelligence from the University of Oxford. Dr. Charlie A. Avila is distinguished for his decades-long career in environmental science, physics and academia. As a scientific researcher and a professor of air sciences at CUMPE, he has made significant contributions to the realm of climate change and society’s understanding of critical environmental issues.
