175 Millennium - Twenty-first Edition SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY AND ENGINEERING Gagandeep Singh Khanuja is an information technology professional with over a decade of experience to his credit. A rising expert in his field, he has served as a senior manager at Verizon since 2023, having originally joined the company in 2019 as a manager and data scientist. During his time with the company, he has cultivated numerous achievements, including the creation of two forecasting models for use in making short and long-term customer retention predictions with more than 90% accuracy. These models were crucial in reducing customer losses in 2020 and 2021, allowing the company to gain deeper, data-driven sales insights. At the onset of his career, Mr. Khanuja operated as the OGIP finance manager for AIESEC India between 2013 and 2014. He spent the next year as a Microsoft student partner and joined Tata Elxsi as an Internet of Things embedded product design engineer in 2016. He also notably chaired the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers between 2014 and 2015. Born in India, Mr. Khanuja began his vocational journey as a student at Nowrosjee Wadia College in Pune and interned with Volkswagen and UL Group. In 2016, he received a Bachelor of Engineering in electronics and telecommunications engineering from Savitribai Phule Pune University. He subsequently immigrated to the United States to continue his studies at Purdue University, where he excelled as a research assistant for two years and ultimately achieved a Master of Science in computer and information technology in 2019. Ever committed to his profession, Mr. Khanuja hopes to continue contributing to the industry by supporting and serving as a mentor for the Akansha Foundation. In recognition of his contributions to Verizon, he has been honored with four Spotlight Awards. Mr. Khanuja credits his success to the influence of his professional and academic mentors and is grateful to his uncle for serving as an example of the American dream.
