San Juan, Puerto Rico A pioneer in food and beverage technologies, Dr. Grant E. DuBois has dedicated over 50 years to his career, culminating in his role as chief scientific officer of Almendra (Thailand) Ltd. Since 2012, his efforts have led to a mechanism-of-action-based breakthrough, enabling the elimination of noncaloric sweeteners’ lingering aftertaste through formulation with a nutritionally important mineral composition known as System G™. This work is significant due to its potential to improve human wellness by reducing sugar and high fructose corn syrup intake. Earlier, Dr. DuBois was vice president of research at Sweet Defeat LLC, where his work led to Sweet Defeat™, a sweetness-blocking weight loss product. He was also director of ingredient and product sciences at The Coca-Cola Company, where his work led to multiple innovations, including the first sugar-free frozen carbonated beverages, the first sweetener receptor positive allosteric modulators SucralGEM® and SucroGEM®, and the commercialization of the stevia sweetener Rebaudioside A. Previously, he worked for The NutraSweet Company, Syva Company and Dynapol Company. He is grateful for the support of his wife, Mary, during his career and looks forward to witnessing the growth and impact of System G™ technologies. Melvin Colón is highly regarded in the pharmaceutical and manufacturing sectors for his extensive expertise in regulatory compliance and quality assurance. Since 2002, he has served as a senior quality assurance consultant at MCD Consulting Services Inc., overseeing pharmaceutical and manufacturing processes to ensure adherence to regulatory standards. In 2025, Mr. Colón led cleaning validation efforts at a biosimilar facility in Iceland and supported a manufacturing plant in Mexico through remediation initiatives to facilitate vaccine distribution in the Mexican market. Moreover, he successfully directed a team in Memphis, Tennessee, transforming a clinical trial site into a fully compliant commercial manufacturing facility. His leadership was pivotal in obtaining regulatory approval for the first cell and gene therapy manufacturing site in the United States. Highly educated, Mr. Colón holds a Bachelor of Science in industrial chemistry from Universidad de Puerto Rico, as well as a Master of Engineering in engineering management and a Master of Science in manufacturing competitiveness from Universidad Politécnica de Puerto Rico.
