Ms. Duncan began her career as a preventive dentistry specialist in the United States Army, serving from 2007 to 2012, and began her civilian career as an administrative assistant for Armstrong State University’s veterans affairs department the following year. In 2015, Ms. Duncan joined the United States Department of Veterans Affairs as an advanced medical support assistant, transitioning into a financial revenue technician position the following year. Her health care and military background impressed upon her the value of supporting historically underserved communities, leading her to become a program and policy analyst for the Wisconsin Department of Health Services in 2020. Ms. Duncan was recognized for her commitment to supplier diversity while with the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, and she is proud of her outspoken advocacy for community health. While serving in the U.S. Army, she was awarded several decorations, including three Army Achievement Medals, a Good Conduct Medal and an Army Commendation Medal. In this regard, she considers her time in the military to have been formative to her dedication to service. She is the proud parent of one daughter and looks forward to resuming her work on behalf of others, focusing on maternal health and reducing mental health stigma in majority-Black communities.
