As part of her duties at the institution, Ms. Jorgensen notably developed the college’s leadership program for school athletes. The program promotes community involvement and helps students enhance themselves and their abilities as they prepare for the future. Ms. Jorgensen originally joined the university in 1988 as an associate athletics director, a role she held until 2021. Adjacent to her primary duties, Ms. Jorgensen has also operated as an advancement associate at St. Vincent-St. Mary High School in Akron, Ohio, since 2023. She is actively focused on improving the school’s curricula and philanthropic efforts, with the hope of transforming it from a STEM school to a STEAM school. Additionally, Ms. Jorgensen remains active in several industry-related and civicminded organizations. She is a board member of The Garden Club of Kent and The Portage Foundation, a member of Leadership Akron and the Rotary Club of Akron, Ohio, and the board president of the Halo Foundation. As part of her vocational journey, Ms. Jorgensen cultivated her own higher education, earning both a bachelor’s degree in K-12 music education and a bachelor’s degree in piano pedagogy at Michigan State University. She subsequently continued her studies at Morehead State University, where she ultimately achieved a Master of Music. Ms. Jorgensen credits much of her success to her ability to connect with others, as she highly values the relationships she has built with her colleagues. Accounting for her accomplishments, she is particularly proud of her work at The University of Akron. Furthermore, she is proud of her daughter, Laura, who serves as an athletics director at the University of Oregon. For over 35 years, Anne G. Jorgensen has excelled as a leader in the field of education. Throughout her career, she has largely specialized in athletics, promoting leadership and building connections through sports.
