Since 2024, she has owned Nye Homegrown Learning LLC, a private practice supporting individuals with educational and speech-language development services. Earlier, she was a thirdparty contractor within schools, emphasizing informed consent and empowering parents to make educated decisions about their children’s needs. She earned a BS in communication sciences and disorders from West Virginia University and an MSEd in speechlanguage pathology from The College of Saint Rose. She now serves as an adjunct professor in the undergraduate speech-language pathology program at the University of Connecticut, mentoring future clinicians. Mrs. Nye’s leadership has been recognized through the CREA Global Award from Brainz Magazine, where she contributes as a senior-level executive writer, and the ASHA Distinguished Early Career Professional Certificate, awarded in 2025 for outstanding contributions to her profession and community. She aspires to create a community center, connecting individuals with nature and multigenerational learning experiences. Dr. Joshua Y. Lerner is a senior research methodologist at NORC at the University of Chicago, where he has been a researcher and affiliate since 2021. An expert in econometrics and Bayesian statistics, he holds a Doctor of Philosophy in political science from Duke University, where he has also been a visiting assistant professor. Dr. Lerner has been published in journals, including the American Political Science Review and JAMA Health Forum, and has collaborated with Stanford’s Deliberative Democracy Laboratory to model deliberative forums. Dr. Lerner’s current work focuses on machine learning, natural language processing and the impacts of artificial intelligence (AI) on survey methods. In this regard, he hopes to develop strategies for using AI to encourage political engagement and curb polarization. He remains dedicated to applying rigorous scientific standards to his work and strives to remain as objective as possible despite the outsized impact of these topics on culture. Outside of his work, Dr. Lerner is a classically trained pianist and a dedicated parent to his two young children.
