PESSLER, PHD Dr. Devon J. Pessler is a visiting assistant professor in the School of Engineering Technology at the Purdue Polytechnic Institute, where she has taught since 2024. Dr. Pessler is an expert in materials strength and testing for industrial applications, and her research has included work in tensile strength testing of polymers for medical device applications and wood for use in guitars. An alumnus of Purdue University, she was awarded a Doctor of Philosophy in engineering technology in 2024. As a graduate student, Dr. Pessler participated in more than 50 industry assistance projects, which resulted in over $4 million in financial impact for Indiana small and medium businesses and earned her a 2024 Industrial Engagement Excellence Award. She is a member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers and co-founded its awardwinning Purdue student chapter. Dr. Pessler attributes her success to her ability to explore opportunities and looks forward to continuing to build her career at Purdue. Dr. Yasmen Helen Simonian is an award-winning dean and professor at Weber State University College of Health Professions, where she has been a faculty member since 1996. In her longstanding role, she oversees 14 departments in the school’s health care tracks, including nursing and radiology, and maintains a research laboratory focused on cancer research and hematology. Dr. Simonian holds a Doctor of Philosophy in health sciences from the University of Utah and is proud to use her background in laboratory science and blood diseases to create pathways to health careers for the students she serves. Under her guidance, the College of Health Professions has grown enrollment and launched several new programs, and she looks forward to the debut of a new occupational therapy track next year. Dr. Simonian considers the success of her students to be her proudest accomplishment, and she has been the recipient of numerous teaching awards throughout her career. YASMEN HELEN SIMONIAN, PHD
