Hirschman has thrived in the interior design sector as the owner and interior designer of Karen Hirschman Designs Inc. Specializing in residential interior design, she maintains responsibility for mentoring up-and-coming designers in the industry, leasing space to them in her studio, and sharing her knowledge of design to cultivate lasting professional relationships and foster her mentees’ growth. With a particular focus on residential remodeling, she often manages whole-house renovations and oversees every aspect of the renovation process, including relocating homeowners and their belongings, remodeling the property and facilitating the homeowners’ return. Concurrent with this role, Ms. Hirschman contributed to the Washington State chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers from 2003 to 2015, where she also served as president. She has also been an active member of the National Kitchen and Bath Association, Habitat for Humanity International and CAPS. Likewise, Ms. Hirschman taught interior design business courses at Clover Park Technical College for nearly two years and has continued her dedication to students through mentorship programs for recent graduates entering the design space. Ms. Hirschman holds a BFA in painting, printmaking, ceramics and sculpture from the University of Memphis, which she completed in 1982. After accruing years of experience in her profession, she completed a bachelor’s degree in interior design at Clover Park Technical College in 2004. She also holds a certification as an associate kitchen and bath designer. As a testament to her success, Ms. Hirschman received several interior design awards from the Master Builders Association and two volunteer awards. In accounting for her success, Ms. Hirschman credits the strong support of her family, particularly her husband, whose unwavering encouragement has motivated her to excel in every facet of her career. She is also grateful for the opportunities to travel abroad, having lived and worked in Germany in 1999, where she established a studio and taught drawing and pottery.
