37 Millennium - Twenty-first Edition ARCHITECTURE, CONSTRUCTION, DESIGN AND REAL ESTATE Craig D. Stephens is celebrated in the field of architecture for his innovation in design and commitment to environmental standards. Drawing on more than 35 years of professional experience, he recently retired in 2021, cementing a legacy of multifaceted roles across the architectural and military spheres. Having served as an architect for the U.S. Department of Defense and U.S. Navy beginning in 1986, he was responsible for designing buildings and structures, renovating bathrooms and gymnasiums, and engaging in moving projects, floor contracts, and mechanical and demolition work. Previously, Mr. Stephens was a draftsman with Morrison & Smith in the early 1980s, having ascended roles from carpenter’s helper to construction officer and architectural and mechanical draftsman. Supported by a Bachelor of Architecture from Florida A&M University, which he earned in 1983, Mr. Stephens also holds a Specs Intact certification, testifying to his excellence in the field. Over the course of his longstanding career, he has accepted numerous accolades, such as the Outstanding Performance Award from the U.S. Navy, several Certificates of Commendation and Length of Service Awards, and the On the Spot Award, among others. To remain abreast of developments in his areas of expertise, Mr. Stephens has also maintained active membership in the American Institute of Architects and the National Organization of Minority Architects. Although he has experienced a myriad of career achievements, he is particularly proud of contributing to the design and management of a marina project, where he ensured the safety of the project and its team members and oversaw construction efforts. Mr. Stephens is also gratified by the opportunity to renovate locker rooms in the gymnasium of a military base, which he transformed to replicate the atmosphere of upscale home or hotel facilities. Now retired, Mr. Stephens looks back on his career fondly and notes that he maintained a reputation for being present and communicative, which carried over to all the jobs he oversaw during his 35-year career.
