He attributes his success to his parents' support and advises aspiring creative professionals to be open to working with changes in the field, including prioritizing mastery of emerging technologies. Within the next decade, he hopes to create a film production partnership focused on fostering diversity for small-budget filmmakers. In his personal time, Mr. Hooks is a dedicated youth mentor and advocate who has dedicated more than 20 years to working with incarcerated and formerly incarcerated youth and young adults in prison ministry and outreach programs. He is the president of the Alameda County Knight-Raptors, a semi-professional community football team, and continues his lifelong membership in the North American Model Boat Association, an organization dedicated to model boat racing. Mr. Hooks considers his work at Supermicro to be the highlight of his career. Under his leadership, the company’s creative team evolved into a tightly run unit that has cemented itself as a respected part of core operations. He is proud to have created an internal structure that allows team members to develop their skills and build careers with the company, and he strives to create opportunities to nurture emerging talent.
