47 Millennium - Twenty-first Edition ARTS, MEDIA AND ENTERTAINMENT Church from 1995 to 2001. Ms. Tarantino commenced her career in 1993 as a conducting intern at El Montecito Presbyterian Church. Impressively, Ms. Tarantino has performed at the Aspen Music Festival, as well as music festivals in Switzerland and Wales. She hopes to take a sabbatical to Europe to film immersive lectures in historic venues and bring those lessons to life for her students in the United States – many of whom are first-generation Americans with limited exposure to global cultural heritage. In addition, Ms. Tarantino has taken the Cuesta Concord Chorus on tour to the California Missions, Ireland, Northern Ireland, England, France, Germany, Austria, Italy and Sicily. Likewise, she and her choir sang for returning veterans from Iraq at the Walter Reed Hospital and for veteran homes across West Virginia, Massachusetts and Washington, DC, thanking them for their service, as well as in Memorial Day and Veterans Day events in California. In light of her outstanding endeavors, Ms. Tarantino was honored with the Alpha Bravo Zulu Award, an award rarely given to civilians, meaning “A Job Well Done.” her mentors, stressing that performance artists often require mentorship and support for personal growth and professional connections. In turn, she has become a mentor to others, motivated by her desire to create a supportive environment for her students to allow their true voices to shine. Earlier in her career, Ms. Tarantino was a cofounder and chorus master of Central Coast Gilbert & Sullivan from 2013 to 2018, a guest conductor for the Atascadero Community Band from 2014 to 2018, and a chorus master for the Opera San Luis Obispo’s production of Bizet’s “Carmen” in 2014. She was also an instrumental music consultant for the Santa Barbara School District from 1998 to 2005. Previously, Ms. Tarantino was a conductor and music theory teacher for the Santa Barbara Children’s Chorus for four years, having also served as a substitute choir conductor and solo flutist at Trinity Episcopal Church in Santa Barbara, California, for two years. Similarly, she was a music and contra dance consultant at the Vieja Valley School from 1998 to 2003 and a junior choir director at All Saints-by-the-Sea Episcopal
