As part of her commitment to professional growth, she is a member of the Music Teachers National Association, the CAPTA and the National Association of Teachers of Singing. She was active in her community as the director of a children’s church choir and musicals in local theatre companies. She also supports causes benefiting veterans and youth. In the coming years, Ms. Boettger is excited to expand her studio as an independent pillar of the local business community, emphasizing in-depth, high-quality instruction. Joan Elizabeth Boettger is the owner of Encore Music & Arts, where she works with vocalists of all ages and levels. A classically trained singer and pianist, her passion for music began at a young age and was encouraged by her parents, who enrolled her in music and dance lessons. She went on to study at Virginia Commonwealth University, earning a Bachelor of Music in vocal performance, with a concentration in opera. After graduation, Ms. Boettger cultivated a successful performance career, appearing in operas and musical theater, including the 2000 Spoleto Vocal Symposium and a career-highlight role as Lalume in the operetta “Kismet.” She also acted in several commercials and was featured in films. While she was able to maintain a small teaching practice alongside her stage career, she soon realized that her goals lay in forging her own path and supporting the next generation of talent. She established Encore Music & Arts to pursue her dream of nurturing new creatives, offering voice, piano and acting lessons customized to the goals and strengths of each student.
