Tom Black is a seasoned executive, sales leader and entrepreneur who has offered his expertise to clients as a consultant through the Tom Black Center for Excellence for nearly 20 years. Founded in 2006, the center operates as a clearinghouse for Mr. Black’s writing and sales coaching endeavors and has led to his recognition as a top sales coach by The Coach Foundation. He began his career as a student at Missouri State University, accepting door-to-door sales jobs in the summer while earning a Bachelor of Arts in rhetoric and public address. Mr. Black’s early talent for sales established his potential as a future business leader, and in 1984, he joined FISI-Madison Financial. Over the next seven years, he became a division leader and drove more than $500 million in sales, a significant increase over prior figures. In 1991, he left the company to establish Private Business, where he remained its chief executive officer until its sale in 1998. Mr. Black spent the next decade pursuing financial technology projects, including All Points ATM Network, Bank Director and Imagic Corporation, which was later acquired by OSI.
