She graduated from the University of New Haven in 2006 with a bachelor’s degree in legal studies, with an emphasis in dispute resolution and a minor in psychology. Ms. Thomas began her career in 2007 with Prudential Financial, where she would spend the next nine years as a defined benefits relationship manager. During her time with Prudential, she was active in the company’s LEADERS program, which allowed her to participate in rotating work experiences across divisions and became her introduction to defined benefits. She quickly realized her passion for the specialty and rose to become a team leader during her time with the company. In 2016, she stepped down from Prudential to relocate to North Carolina, joining Aon as a project manager for its defined benefits division. Since 2016, Ms. Thomas has been a senior defined benefits project manager, overseeing a portfolio of four clients, including two of the company’s largest accounts. She is responsible for managing billing, finance and participant exchanges, as well as ensuring client satisfaction, human resources management and special projects. Ms. Thomas continues to be a professional leader at Aon and sits on the company’s Black Leadership Team in addition to her work as co-founder of the Carolinas chapter of the Black Professional Network. Ms. Thomas credits her success to her work ethic and integrity and is dedicated to helping other women succeed in business. She is a proud single parent and stroke survivor and hopes to prioritize her health and serve as an example of resiliency and authenticity to others in the coming years.
