Earlier in her career, Dr. Darbha served as a hospitalist at IPC Healthcare Inc. from 2011 to 2013, where she provided comprehensive inpatient care and contributed to patient outcomes as part of a multidisciplinary team. From 2008 to 2011, she served in the same capacity at Optimus Hospitalists and Pediatric Subspecialists. Previously, Dr. Darbha worked internationally as a surveillance medical officer for the National Polio Surveillance Project, in affiliation with WHO, from 2001 to 2003 and as a civil assistant surgeon for the Government of Andhra Pradesh from 1998 to 2000. Dr. Darbha holds an MBBS from the Mysore Medical College and Research Institute in India, which she completed in 1998. After relocating to the United States, she earned an MD in internal medicine from Mercy Hospital and Medical Center in Chicago in 2008. Dr. Darbha also holds several certifications, including in advanced cardiac life support and in physician leadership for hospital medicine. Outside of her primary work, since 2022, Dr. Darbha has served as an advisor to the governor for the Illinois chapter of the American College of Physicians, where she is also recognized as a fellow. Furthermore, she has been a member of the Council on Education and Health Workforce for the Illinois State Medical Society since 2024 and has lent her knowledge to her community as a board member of Oak Technology Solutions. As a testament to her success, Dr. Darbha was honored with the President’s Leadership Award from the Indian American Medical Association in 2019. In the years to come, she remains dedicated to ensuring positive patient outcomes through compassion, empathy and service to others.
