Simmons is a leader in health care administration and diagnostic medical sonography, bringing over 25 years of experience in clinical practice and allied health education. Since 2025, she has served as program dean of diagnostic medical sonography at the Cambridge College of Healthcare and Technology, overseeing faculty, students and accreditation processes while guiding program development and outcomes. Ms. Simmons spent four years as sonography training coordinator at Grady Health System’s Schools of Radiation and Imaging Technologies, directing credentialing processes, managing student clinical placements, and providing classroom and laboratory instruction. Previously, she dedicated 20 years to clinical service as a registered diagnostic medical sonographer and radiologic technologist, earning credentials in abdominal, obstetrics/gynecology, breast and vascular sonography. She also completed seven years of international service at Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre, where she helped develop its breast and prostate biopsy programs. Ms. Simmons graduated valedictorian from DeKalb Medical School of Radiologic Technology. She also holds a bachelor’s degree in health care leadership and a master’s degree in health care administration, with a concentration in quality improvement. With over 35 years of professional achievement, Piroska “Pika” Sdrougias is a respected health care consultant known for her deep expertise in health insurance contracting for hospitals and physician groups, as well as her extensive legislative work advancing consumer protections in health care billing. Her career includes leadership roles such as chief payor strategy and managed care officer at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, director of contracting for Tulane University Medical Group, chief executive officer of Pathology Group of Louisiana, vice president of revenue cycle, managed care and government relations at East Jefferson General Hospital, and director of revenue cycle at Ochsner Clinic. These roles shaped her unique understanding of how health plan contracts intersect with hospital operations, physician practices and state regulations. Independent since 2024, Ms. Sdrougias considers her tenure at East Jefferson General Hospital a defining period during which she played a leading role in negotiating early state laws on balance billing and consumer protections. Her ability to build consensus among diverse stakeholders helped establish clearer disclosure requirements for health plans and greater transparency for patients.
