157 Millennium - Twenty-second Edition SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY AND ENGINEERING FOUNDER, CO-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR Global Water Works Libertyville, IL CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER DTH IT Consulting, LLC Charlotte, NC MARY CONLEY EGGERT To Mary Conley Eggert, her work in the field of water was meant to be. After all, she grew up in Watertown, Wisconsin, in a house on Water Street. While in elementary school, Ms. Eggert entered a state speaking contest on water conservation, as the river behind her home was piled 30 feet high with phosphate pollution. Presuming the Clean Water Act had addressed the water challenges, Ms. Eggert pursued a 35-year career in public relations, serving UW-Madison, the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, Envestnet, Tech Image and SmithBucklin. Reports of an impending clean water crisis prompted Ms. Eggert to establish Global Water Works (GWW) in 2016, where she and Co-Executive Director Frank Slovenec are focused on revealing God’s abundance through rainwater projects. Soon to be celebrating its 10th anniversary, GWW has evolved from a platform connecting 3,200 water leaders to a global community, training and equipping local teams to implement rainwater solutions. At the time of this printing, GWW has helped establish 16 rainwater systems serving 7,000 people in East Africa. In the years ahead, Ms. Eggert plans to expand global collaboration on rainwater, so it is forgotten no more.
