To this end, her invaluable contributions have advanced the economic development of Starkville. Furthermore, she served on the Starkville Tourism and Convention Board and is active with her local Rotary Club. As a testament to her success and commitment to improving Starkville’s community, Ms. Moreland was named Starkville’s “Hometown Hero” by The Commercial Dispatch in 2024. She was also invited to share her experiences as a speaker at the Annual Smart Girls Conference, hosted by the Boys and Girls Club, to encourage young women and girls to pursue their goals and foster self-confidence. Ms. Moreland holds a BBA from Mississippi State University, which she has leveraged to cement a strong foundation for her work in business and public service. Looking toward the future, she aims to pursue a higher office position while simultaneously expanding her influence in Starkville. Kim Moreland is a distinguished community leader, business owner and public servant whose career has been defined by resilience, communication and integrity. Since 2024, she has served as an alderman for Ward 1 of the City of Starkville, Mississippi, where she gives back to the community that has shaped her approach to success. In this regard, Ms. Moreland has demonstrated excellence through effective listening and leaving her community better than she found it. In addition to her role as an alderman, she served as vice chair of the Oktibbeha County Republican Party and has represented Mississippi as a delegate. Similarly, Ms. Moreland has led numerous successful businesses in Starkville, such as in the fields of construction services, commercial and residential real estate, rental properties, storage units and a check-cashing company. She is also a licensed contractor and U-Haul dealer.
