DeWitt has garnered over 25 years of experience. Since 2010, he has served as the senior quarry manager at Heidelberg Materials (formerly Lehigh Hansen), modernizing the company’s quarry operations. Over the past 15 years, Mr. DeWitt initiated the company’s drone program for surveying purposes and introduced computer-based mine planning, enabling accurate reserve calculations and strategic development. Currently focused on mining limestone for cement production, he has gained valuable experience in diverse mining environments and can operate nearly all equipment used in the field. Previously, Mr. DeWitt worked at Barrick Gold in Elko, Nevada, for 10 years, beginning his tenure as an equipment operator and advancing to the role of shovel operator. Following five years in this capacity, he was promoted to leadman, junior supervisor and senior supervisor, overseeing 65 employees. During this time, Mr. DeWitt also delved into other departments on six-week assignments, particularly within the mechanical, drill and blast, and engineering sectors. Prior to joining Barrick Gold, he worked in coal mines in Wyoming and in copper and silver mining in Nevada. In light of his success, Mr. DeWitt was honored by Barrick Gold, and he subsequently earned the Aquarium Freeman Award from Lehigh Hansen. Mr. DeWitt attributes much of his success to his drive for self-improvement and commitment to advancing in every role he has held. He possesses a corporate philosophy of lifting others and watching them succeed in promoting career growth. Looking ahead, he intends to establish a consulting business, focusing on safety protocols during mining operations. Ultimately, he aims to serve as a foremost advisor on process optimization to enhance operational efficiency. Mr. DeWitt lives on a small Alabama property, where he raises cows, horses and donkeys. Believing in self-sufficiency, he operates a sawmill and utilizes lumber from trees on his property to build structures.
