Highly educated, Ms. Jacob holds a BM in music education from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, which she completed in 1969. The following year, she earned an MA in teaching music from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. To remain abreast of trends and developments in her industry, Ms. Jacob has maintained an active affiliation with the American Guild of Organists. She is also a founding member and life member of the Historical Keyboard Society of North America. In accounting for her success, she credits the relationships she has cultivated within her field, noting she has garnered experience in church, academia and at a local monastery. Looking ahead, Ms. Jacob intends to continue preparing her students for entry into the workforce, where she can positively influence their career trajectories. Karen Hite Jacob draws upon over 50 years of experience in music appreciation, history and instruction. Since 2000, she has served as a lecturer in music and college organist at Belmont Abbey College in Belmont, North Carolina. In addition, she currently thrives as the director of Arts at the Abbey. Ms. Jacob’s career in music performance stemmed from her formative years, having begun piano lessons at 10 years old. By age 16, she served as an organist for her local church and frequently accompanied performances in high school. Impressively, during her collegiate studies, Ms. Jacob taught high school music classes on a part-time basis. Ms. Jacob has also served as the founder and director of Carolina Pro Musica in Charlotte, North Carolina, since 1977. Over the decades, she and the music ensemble have hosted yearly concert series, which have been highly anticipated by participants and music enthusiasts alike. Ms. Jacob stresses that founding the ensemble and collaborating with others brings her the greatest satisfaction, as she has always enjoyed disseminating her knowledge and sharing her passion for music with others.
