78 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine BUSINESS, FINANCE AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP Since 1996, Douglas M. Danner has thrived as an actuary at Blue Cross Blue Shield of South Carolina. Dedicating 30 years to the health insurance leader, he notably passed his first two actuarial examinations in 1994 before finding employment with Blue Cross Blue Shield. As part of his routine responsibilities, Mr. Danner assesses the performance of small group insurance plans and manages clients due for monthly renewals. He has also contributed to numerous initiatives, such as actuarial testing of mainframe computer software during the organization’s 2011 transition from the TOTL system to the CES system. Mr. Danner was recognized as a fellow of the Society of Actuaries in 2011, demonstrating his commitment to his profession and growth as an industry leader. Outside of his primary assignments, he is civically engaged in his community as a volunteer with Living Springs Lutheran Church in Columbia, South Carolina, and a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church. In accounting for his success, Mr. Danner credits his unrelenting determination and tenacity, as well as the support and influence of his parents. Holding a Bachelor of Science in mathematics from the College of Charleston, which he earned in 1992, Mr. Danner’s career journey was serendipitous, having first considered paths as a high school mathematics teacher or a graduatelevel student. Ultimately, Mr. Danner decided against teaching and, leveraging his skills, he chose to pursue actuarial science. This decision positively impacted his life, providing him with fulfillment that he continues to carry to the present day. Looking toward the future, Mr. Danner aims to continue contributing to Blue Cross Blue Shield of South Carolina and commence a role as an autism advocate to share his support of the community. Adjacent to his professional duties, Mr. Danner enjoys traveling in his leisure time, having undertaken several road trips and explored popular tourist destinations. DOUGLAS M.
