As the founder of the National Veteran Business Development Council (NVBDC), he has championed opportunities for fellow veteran entrepreneurs and played a pivotal role in developing certification standards for veteranowned businesses. By collaborating effectively with minority- and women-owned companies, Mr. King and his colleagues established comprehensive military-standard operating procedures and certification packages. Notably, this initiative culminated in the landmark decision by the Billion Dollar Roundtable in 2017 to accept the NVBDC as the sole approved certification body for veterans. Concurrent with this appointment, Mr. King has served as the president and chief executive officer of Keith King & Associates LLC since 1998. In this role, he provides strategic directions to help clients navigate business development challenges through marketing and advertising, drawing upon his experience in and understanding of supplier diversity programs and federal contracting processes. Earlier in his career, Mr. King served as the vice president of new business development at J.K. Kidd and Company, a prominent advertising agency, from 1993 to 1996. He also had foundational roles as a sales manager at WPTT-TV from 1986 to 1989 and as the director of retail sales at WJR-AM and FM from 1976 to 1984. He began his career with a tenure in the United States military, where he served during the Vietnam War. Upon arriving home from his service, Mr. King sought to support fellow veterans through leadership and advocacy efforts. As such, he became closely involved in legislative efforts that led to the passing of a 1999 federal law, recognizing veteran-owned and service-disabled veteran-owned businesses as eligible entities for government contracting. To augment his qualifications, Mr. King attended Macomb Community College and earned an associate degree in business. He also received certification as a service-disabled veteran-owned business through the NVBDC
