Through her involvement with the Gulf Coast Concert Band and the Houston Symphonic Band, she hopes to attract and create a space for adults who played instruments in high school but never expected to be part of an ensemble again. She plans to build connections by playing small ensemble chamber music that creates a pipeline for adults to join a local community band. Ms. Hungerford considers herself inspired rather than retired, with her musical performances keeping her busy alongside her work on Dr. Webster’s books. She enjoys walking, tracking her steps with a smartwatch, and reading. Additionally, she completes Duolingo lessons every day to further enhance her French skills, having studied the language in high school. time, enabling the software to be released to customers sooner. In 2008, Ms. Hungerford joined Citigroup as a senior technical analyst and later became an assistant vice president. She remained with the company until her retirement in 2013, capping off a career marked by hard work and continuous learning. Alongside her work in information technology, Ms. Hungerford has remained active in music. For two years, she was the associate conductor for the Houston Civic Orchestra. In 1998, she recorded and produced a Christmas CD with her woodwind quintet. She and her sister, Leslie, created and produced a CD titled “The Delaney Sisters Look Back” in 2005. The duo performed concerts and donated all the CD proceeds to the Huffington Center on Aging at Baylor College of Medicine in memory of their mother, Ida Louise.
