132 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY AND ENGINEERING Gemmological Association of Great Britain, which he considers a significant milestone. After 26 years in his profession, Mr. Lejman attributes his success to the guidance and inspiration he has received from numerous mentors and colleagues. Specifically, he cites Gail Brett Levine of the National Association of Jewelry Appraisers for encouraging his professional growth, as well as his research mentor, Branco Deljanin. Another notable achievement of Mr. Lejman’s career was his work co-organizing an international conference in Montana. Focused on the state’s sapphires, the event featured expert talks and hands-on workshops with global participants. It was a key step in advancing knowledge and collaboration in the industry. Looking ahead, Mr. Lejman plans to further expand his business by adding new locations. He also aims to incorporate more advanced technology to ensure his gemstone appraisals remain transparent and accurate. Travis Lejman’s interest in gemology began when he worked at his father’s jewelry appraisal business while in college. Motivated, he gained the education and certifications needed not only to join the family business but also to evolve it into a comprehensive gemological laboratory. Mr. Lejman is president and senior gemologist at Gemological Appraisal Laboratory of America Inc., a role he has held since 2015. The appraisal process includes developing a full description of the jewelry item and photographing it for reports. He also tests diamonds using various machines to distinguish natural from laboratory-grown stones. For colored gemstones, Mr. Lejman performs standard testing with tools such as refractometers and polariscopes. He measures and weighs both loose and set gemstones and utilizes spectrometers to definitively identify stone species. Additionally, he maintains a detailed database and provides clients with documentation for insurance or sale purposes. He also analyzes and helps identify gemstones for trade clients. Mr. Lejman holds a bachelor’s degree in business from Stony Brook University and a certification in gemology from the Gemological Institute of America. He is a senior member of the Accredited Gemologists Association, a certified senior member of the National Association of Jewelry Appraisers, and a fellow with the TRAVIS LEJMAN PRESIDENT, SENIOR GEMOLOGIST Gemological Appraisal Laboratory of America Inc.
