She has a small yet effective program and development team and acknowledges Gamal Willis, chief program officer, for the significant progress they have achieved in strengthening the organization's impact and for Gamal’s steadfast support. Beyond her work at Avenues for Justice, Ms. Frederick serves her community in numerous ways. She is a member of the 2027 cohort of Greater NY, an organization that partners nonprofit leaders with for-profit executives to address complex issues. Her other extensive appointments have included positions as a council member at NationSwell, a cohort member of the executive director/chief executive officer peer learning group at Robin Hood, a cohort member of Cause Effective and a board member of Impact 100 NYC. She also serves as an organizational member of Youth INC and a board member for the Greenwich Village Chelsea Chambers of Commerce. Ms. Frederick has received multiple awards for her leadership. In 2026, City & State recognized her with the Above & Beyond: Women Award, and she was named the Influential Woman of the Month by Influential Women. Her work was honored with a Congressional Proclamation presented by Congressman Dan Goldman. as the young people it serves, giving them a deep understanding of local, immediate issues. Ms. Frederick emphasizes the importance of connections for her young clients, staff and stakeholders within New York’s criminal justice system. Through her monthly blog series, “Tea with the ED,” she shares current developments in the nonprofit and criminal justice sectors. Ms. Frederick’s responsibilities include meeting with funders and prospective donors and collaborating with Avenues for Justice’s board of directors to advance the organization’s mission. She attributes her success to leading with empathy and compassion. Additionally, she has fostered a culture in which all team members feel empowered and have opportunities for professional growth and achievement. Determined to advance the organization’s legacy, Ms. Frederick considers her appointment as executive director to be her most notable professional accomplishment. She leads with purpose to demonstrate that one’s potential is not determined by one’s starting point in life. Her career is evidence that Black women can excel in spaces where they were previously underrepresented. Though she has led Avenues for Justice for two years, Ms. Frederick understands that
