She also aimed to change how the system perceives those in her profession. Driven by her determination, struggles and care for patients, she stepped out of the shadow of a doctor who did not believe a nurse could succeed independently and founded two thriving companies. Ms. Garza-Contreras is the founder and owner of Higher Level Skin and Beauty, with offices in the Dallas area and El Paso, Texas. Founded in 2020, the business focuses on medical aesthetics and wellness. Its offerings aim to improve how clients look and feel at a cellular level and include Botox, fillers, lasers, body contouring, lab work, hormone optimization, weight loss support, peptide therapy and IV hydration. Ms. Garza-Contreras completed a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) in 2014 and a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) in 2025. She is also a certified medical aesthetic practitioner, a registered nurse and a certified aesthetic nurse specialist. She previously worked as a registered nurse at Del Sol Medical Center in El Paso. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Ms. GarzaContreras decided she wanted to work for herself. She sought an opportunity to make a difference in her patients’ lives and truly change people’s perspectives on aesthetics. A key focus of her business is to merge advanced technology with ethical, personalized care. Ms. Garza-Contreras also educates medical professionals across the United States as a national trainer with the Allergen Medical Institute, owned by AbbVie Inc. This role, held since 2018, involves contributing to international panels dedicated to the development of emerging aesthetic products. Ms. Garza-Contreras credits her success to a mentor from her youth who advised her to stop dreaming small and, instead, aim higher. She hopes to be that guiding figure for future generations, encouraging them to think big.
