His military service took him around the world and led him into the aviation industry, where he remains today. However, with his retirement on the horizon, he anticipates finally slowing down to focus on his spiritual journey and the legacy he will leave behind. Mr. Brumskill is a 737 first officer at Miami International Airport with American Airlines, where he is tasked with upholding the airline’s safety and passenger service standards. He oversees 120 to 175 passengers, connecting them with the people they love and the places that matter to them. No day is boring for Mr. Brumskill, and each one brings new challenges. Whether he is facing unpredictable weather, passenger dynamics, dignitaries or operational complexities, his training enables him to respond with skill and confidence. Flying is more than a job – it is a profession that he approaches with full seriousness and unflagging focus. Mr. Brumskill has earned multiple certifications from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), including Flight Instructor, Airline Transport Pilot and Commercial privileges. He also holds a restricted radiotelephone operator permit through the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). He is a member of the Organization of Black Aerospace Professionals, the Tuskegee Airmen and the Airlift/Tanker Association. Before joining American Airlines in 2025, Mr. Brumskill flew cargo planes in Hawaii for Aloha Air Cargo, ensuring essential deliveries arrived on time. He quickly advanced through the positions of first officer, captain, and Part 121 check airman in the B-7337 from 2015 to 2019. One highlight of Mr. Brumskill’s time in Hawaii was serving as a stunt pilot in the 2019 Netflix original movie “Triple Frontier.” In 2020, he transitioned to B-767 captain and check airman with Northern Air Cargo before returning to Aloha Air Cargo as a captain 737 for a brief time in 2025. Mr. Brumskill began his civilian career as a civilian flight instructor with Midfield Aviation in 2015, following his retirement from the U.S. Air Force as a Lieutenant Colonel.
