88 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine LAW AND LAW ENFORCEMENT In addition to representing criminal defense clients and handling first-degree murder cases, Ms. Fuchs teaches trial advocacy to fellow attorneys at the Tennessee Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (TACDL) Trial College, which her father founded. She also speaks at various institutions providing continuing legal education. Ms. Fuchs is driven to confront authority when she believes she is right. Her strong courtroom ability sets her apart in her field and has always been her greatest gift. She is also effective at negotiating with prosecutors and maintaining professional, respectful relationships with her colleagues. One of Ms. Fuchs’ most significant achievements was receiving the Massey McGee Trial Advocacy Award while a student at the TACDL Trial College. She is now working toward becoming a certified trial specialist as she continues her meaningful work protecting people’s rights. Lauren Massey Fuchs did not intend to become a criminal defense attorney; however, it became apparent that this was her calling. When she was a child, her father, criminal defense attorney William D. Massey, received death threats from a man he was appointed to represent. The situation was so dire that her family had to live in their horse barn for two weeks. Despite this, Ms. Fuchs followed in her father’s footsteps. She has been fighting alongside her father for nearly 20 years for people charged with serious crimes and facing lengthy prison sentences. Ms. Fuchs earned an undergraduate degree in English from Christian Brothers University before attending law school. When her father asked her to help with a death penalty case while she was in law school, she was drawn to the constitutional importance of the work. Today, Ms. Fuchs is a partner at the Law Office of Massey McClusky & Fuchs, a practice her father founded more than 30 years ago. The firm is small and functions more like a family. Many of its clients struggle with addiction, mental illness or lifelong trauma, which can be challenging. Ms. Fuchs takes a client-focused approach to secure resources for those who want and need help. LAUREN MASSEY FUCHS PARTNER, ATTORNEY The Law Office of Massey McClusky & Fuchs Memphis, TN
