O. ANDERSON, PE Originally a skilled architect, John W. O. Anderson decided to delve into mechanical engineering in light of his interest in building engines for automobiles, boats and motorcycles. A registered professional engineer since 1977, he earned a BS in mechanical engineering from Auburn University in 1964 and an MS in mechanical engineering from Purdue University in 1969. Commencing his career as an engineering specialist after receiving his master’s degree, Mr. Anderson went on to serve such notable companies and engineering firms as Air Research Manufacturing Co., Ampex Corp., Scott Paper Co., S. D. Warren Co. and BE&K Engineering. Prior to his retirement in 2019, he was a project manager for Hargrove-EPC for 15 years. During his career, Mr. Anderson designed and tested first stage turbine wheels and fan support for the TFE-731 engine. Actively involved in his community as well, he conducted presentations concerning air pollution control to the Mobile City Council in Alabama for the creation of the City of Semmes Advisory Board Child Advocacy Center between 1988 and 1992. To attest to his civic success, he earned the Citizens Service Award from Mobile United in 1990. Retired from a career as an electronic manufacturing company executive, Arthur Carr enjoyed nearly 40 years in the field. Beginning in 1955 as a field technology specialist for Remington Rand Univac, he later served as president of Codex Corporation for 12 years before the company was acquired by Motorola, whereupon he was named as an executive vice president of Motorola and general manager of its Information SystemGroup. He accepted another position as the president of Stellar Computer Inc. before serving Bytex Corporation until 1993. Mr. Carr excelled as a member of the board of directors for Storage Technology, Wellfleet Communications, Stratus Computer Inc., Prime Computer, Zymark and Peritus Inc. He served in the U.S. Navy between 1951 and 1955 as an electronic technician second class, graduating from Electronics Technician “A” and “C” schools, and has since completed computer science and programming courses. He held a FCC First Class license with Radar endorsement. Mr. Carr is a member of the Independent Data Communications Manufacturers Association, serving as past vice president and director. In honor of his accomplishments, he was recognized in the Computer Museum in California. ARTHUR CARR
