She also earned the Gold Award from Photo Design Magazine in 1990. Notably, Ms. Casella has displayed her work throughout the United States and abroad, including an exhibition at the Center for Photography in Woodstock, NewYork, and at the Horticultural Society’s Webster Gallery in Huntington, New York. She has also exhibited her work at the “American Photography Today” exhibit in Munich, Germany. An exhibitor at the Midtown Y Photography Gallery in 1991, she also displayed her work “Paper Trail” at Grand Central Terminal and at the Nikon House in Rockefeller Center, both located in New York City. Likewise, her photography has been featured in Japan, Germany and Canada. Looking forward, Ms. Casella intends to highlight her work at the Museum of Modern Art and continue displaying her photography at her library. Interested in the arts from the age of 9, Margaret Casella earned a BFA from Long Island University prior to studying at the International Center of Photography. A former attendee of the Tobe-Coburn School for Fashion Careers (now defunct), her attendance in the school prompted her to enter the arts, specifically in still life photographs of kitchenware and food. She earned an MFA from the C.W. Post campus of Long Island University. In the early stages of her career, Ms. Casella was an assistant to the merchandizing director for Gimbels, Macy’s and Saks 5th Avenue before serving as an Assistant to the merchandizing director for Brides Magazine. As part of her work, she coordinated Brides Magazine with local jewelry stores to provide sought-after advice on bridal gifts to wedding-goers. Since 1986, she has also been an artist and photographer for her eponymously-named business, Casella Photography. Within her art, she emphasizes the significance of lighting and shadows, as she notes that the most interesting components to photography arenot necessarily themost beautiful things.
