33 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine ARTS, MEDIA AND ENTERTAINMENT Supported by a BA in mathematics and Spanish from Marion University from 1971 and a MA in education from Ball State University from 1979, Jean E. Hook has been an influential figure in academia and writing for several decades. She previously served as a writer and editor for The Boeing Company and as a member of the Atlas Launch Team for Lockheed Martin, where she was recognized as one of eight women of 250 individuals worldwide. In 2019, she was also recognized for leadership by Boeing Space and Defense Systems and Security. A former teacher of programming languages for more than 20 years, for which she was honored as one of the four best teachers in the state of Indiana, Ms. Hook is also a church organist with more than 55 years of experience to her credit. Influenced by her mother, she was taught how to play the piano when she was a toddler. Presently, she plays the piano, organ, accordion, flute and trombone. She has maintained affiliation with the Employee Community Fund as a member-at-large, Boeing Women in Leadership and Goodwill. Likewise, she is involved with local political activism, conducts volunteer work with the elderly in her community and frequently donates blood. Ms. Hook draws upon a formative interest in teaching, emphasizing that her family were all involved in education as well. Exceptionally humble, she values the knowledge one can attain throughout life inside and outside of academia. With this sentiment, she has always enjoyed seeing lights ignite within a student’s mind after understanding new material. She recalls one of her greatest teaching accomplishments was helping a young man learn American English after he was taught British English, which allowed him to progress into a life-changing leader in Sierra Leona. Ms. Hook is the proud mother of two sons, Abraham and Benjamin. Impressively, Abraham is an executive chef for five restaurants throughout Cincinnati, and Benjamin is working towards his PhD in astrophysics. Looking toward the future, Ms. Hook intends to continue enjoying her retirement. JEAN E. HOOK WRITER, EDITOR, EDUCATOR The Boeing Company Del City, OK
