Later in her career, she studied retablo art with Santeros Patricio and Shawna Chavez in Chimayo, New Mexico, between 2012 and 2020. Throughout her career, Ms. O’Connell has been featured in numerous private collections and communities. Likewise, she has had solo shows at the Revsin Gallery in 1989 and Art a la Carte in 1994, both located in Philadelphia. The group shows she has participated in include the Ariel Gallery in New York City in 1990, Mari Galleries of Westchester in 1994, the Academy of Natural Sciences in Philadelphia in 1994 and the North Pennsylvania Arts Alliance’s fall show in 1995. Alongside her artistic ventures, Ms. O’Connell holds a BA in psychology from Immaculata University and an MA in psychology and counseling from Villanova University. At the inception of her professional career in 1969, she was a training specialist for Towers, Perrin, Foster & Crosby in Philadelphia for three years before moving to Grand Rapids, Michigan, to serve as an assistant personnel manager for Foremost Insurance Co. for two years. Relocating to New York, she was a manager of management development and training at J.C. Penney Co., assistant vice president of American Express International Banking Corp. and vice president of Marine Midland Bank N.A. Retiring from finance in 1997, she was a chairman of Training Professionals, Inc., for nine years. Notably, Ms. O’Connell is a Dame of Malta, a title she has held since 2014. Maintaining affiliation with the American Society for Training and Development, she served the organization on the board of directors of the Philadelphia and Delaware Valley chapters, as president and as president-elect. Likewise, she is a past research committee and community service committee member of the Philadelphia Human Resources Group. Gravitating to art from a very young age, Antoinette Kathleen O’Connell has distinguished herself as a prolific artist in Gwynedd Valley, Pennsylvania, since 1974.
