79 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine EDUCATION Accruing 55 years’ experience in education, psychology and occupational therapy, Barbara Ewer Jones served the Monroe County Community School Corporation (MCCSC) from 1977 to 2004 as a school psychologist and substitute occupational therapist. She served Butler University as an evening division lecturer in early childhood, Decatur Township School System as a readiness teacher, San Bernardino City Unified School District as a contract substitute teacher and Marion Indiana School System as a first-grade teacher. She holds teaching licenses for K-8th grade, major in social studies and minor in art education, and endorsements in learning disability, cognitive defects, early childhood and emotional disabled. She specializes her practice with children with autism and children born of addicted parents. After retiring fromMCCSC,Ms. Joneshasexcelledasanoccupational therapist, teacher, psychology and disability analyst since 2004. She has also been an occupational therapist for at-risk visually handicapped babies with First Steps. She developed and directed the University Preschool for children ranging from 18months to sevenyears oldwho struggledwith learning andbehavioral issues. The preschool was open for interactionwith three Indianapolis universities. Ms. Jones attended Indiana University Bloomington, receiving a BS and MEd in special education. Thereafter, she received an MS in school psychology from Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis. Advanced work was completed in occupational therapy at Indianapolis University. Publications and research have been in “The Journal of Learning Disabilities” and “Occupational Therapy Practice,” and she co-authored a chapter, “Assessment of Perceptual Motor and Fine Functioning,” in “Psycho Educational Assessment of Preschool Children.” Ms. Jones is also a figure sculptor, acrylic and watercolor painter, and landscape, portrait, animals and traditional quilter. Many summers were spent performing in local Broadway children’s musicals and completing set construction, artworkandcostumedesign,where fundsweredonatedto“Dollars for Scholars.” She now sings with the musical group “Voices.” Additionally, she volunteers for Well Spring and with Agape horse therapy for teenagers.
