85 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine EDUCATION Coupled with a desire to help individuals achieve their greatest potential, Dr. Arlyn R. Rubash enjoyed his years of educational advancement and wished to further his academic career through teaching. Matriculating at the Pennsylvania State University in College Park, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in ceramic science in 1966 and a Master of Arts in finance in 1968. Two years later in 1970, he achieved a PhD in finance from the aforementioned institution before spearheading his professional career. Dr. Rubash spent one year in 1972 as a teacher and graduate assistant prior to accepting his first full teaching role. Notably, for 47 years, he excelled as an associate professor at Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois, from 1972 until his retirement in 2019. Offering his knowledge to an assortment of classes in the finance major, Dr. Rubash taught corporate finance and financial risk management, as well as how to manage financial affairs of a business firm. Additionally, he has published various articles to professional journals that exemplify his teachings and academic concepts. Reflecting on his illustrious career, Dr. Rubash finds great joy in watching his former students go on to pursue honorable and wonderful accomplishments. On occasion, a student reaches out to him, and he is able to hear firsthand how they are utilizing his lessons in their careers. With this sentiment, his personal definition of success is making a genuine difference in other individuals’ lives, which he believes he has achieved due to his vast recognition from his past students over the years. He credits his PhD mentor, George Philippapos, for showing him how to not only be a thinker of quality but also a successful educator. Looking ahead, Dr. Rubash plans to continue enjoying his well-deserved retirement and take interest in new hobbies that may enter his life. His advice to aspiring educators and professionals is to simply work hard and find the joy in your work.
