Over the course of the three decades that he has been advocating for “Art of Sound,” Mr. Chapman is especially proud of his dedication to perpetuate an appreciation for jazz music and education. He is notably an honorary lifetime member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, as well as a member of the Jazz Education Network. Supported by a wealth of experience, Mr. Chapman earned a Bachelor of Science from Texas A&M University-Commerce in 2010 and continues to support his local music industry. Ultimately, he hopes to continue relaying his expertise of music to others and introduce the younger generations to the wonderments of jazz music. Likewise, he would also like to ease into a well-deserved retirement. In his leisure time, he enjoys playing the drums, jamming with friends, and listening and watching musical documentaries. Drawing upon an early love of music, Mark Chapman recalls watching famous jazz musician Louis Armstrong perform on television during Mr. Chapman’s formative years in the 1950s and early 1960s. Enthralled with music since that time, he was equally influenced by “The Gene Krupa Story,” a film that he watched at his grandmother’s house at the age of 6. Inspired to pursue drumming after watching the film, he has served as a talented drummer over the past 50 years and has also cemented his love for music with his career path. Currently, Mr. Chapman excels as the owner of the Art of Sound Improvisatory Independence Studio in Sulphur Springs, Texas, in which he does private recording for his “Art of Sound” musical ventures. Prior, he served KDXE and KETR at Texas A&M University-Commerce with the “Art of Sound” jazz music program, where he also flourished as an instructor of production and board operation and conducted over 200 interviews with internationally respected jazz MARK CHAPMAN OWNER Art of Sound Improvisatory Independence Studio Sulphur Springs, TX
