Professionally affiliated with several entities over the course of his 50-plus year long career, Mr. Chipman served as a postal inspector for the United States Post Office for six years. Subsequent to this appointment, he was employed by the K-Mart Corporation for nearly 14 years prior to founding his own business, Retail Consulting Associates. As owner, he enjoyed traveling across the nation and conducting seminars for other businesses. Thereon, he joined the Colorado State Archives, serving there between 1986 and 2014. Before embarking on his career, Mr. Chipman joined the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve in 1960 until his departure in 1966. He then pursued a formal education at the University of Utah, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1967 and a Master of Arts in history in 1969. Civically involved as well, he has often volunteered for his local Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He attributes his profound success as an author and historian to his willingness to perform his job to the best of his ability.
