Thereafter, he returned to California and opened similar facilities with various monks and nuns in the area, thus prompting the establishment of the Shambhala Monastery. Additionally, he is a noteworthy healer, teacher and musician who has recorded several soul therapy songs for personal and planetary ascension. Notably, profits from his work are directly contributed to monasteries in Tibet, India and Nepal. Furthermore, Mr. Kumara has garnered an excellent reputation as a political leader and activist for Native American societies in the United States. He previously completed coursework at various California-based universities and served in the Vietnam War in 1969 as a naval hospital corpsman and Marine corpsman. Since 1995, Sanat Buddha Maitreya Kumara has excelled as the director of Shambhala at the Shambhala Monastery in Kelseyville, California. In his role as director, he facilitates religious congregations in the region, as well as oversees the Buddhist teachings within the monastery and leads meditative practices.
