Mr. Marsh worked for large companies like Apple, IBM and Microsoft. He also co-founded two more software startups of his own, Walkabout Software (subsequently acquired by Microsoft in 1997) and White Marsh Forests (acquired by Olis Robotics in 2018). Mr. Marsh’s interest in energy and environmental issues blossomed when he moved to the beautiful Pacific Northwest. He co-founded the Coalition of Eastside Neighborhoods for Sensible Energy (CENSE) in Bellevue, Washington, in 2014. CENSE advocates for sustainable, affordable, reliable energy solutions based on modern smart technologies. Mr. Marsh later co-founded 300 Trees, a nonprofit organization that works with cities, schools and residents to plant hundreds of native trees each year to sustain urban tree canopies. In 2021, 300 Trees received a grant from the Washington State Department of Natural Resources and the U.S. Forest Service to assist high school students who wished to plant hundreds of trees on their campus following a difficult year of remote schooling during the COVID-19 pandemic. This project was enhanced by partnerships with the Bellevue School District, the City of Bellevue and YMCA Earth Service Corps. 300 Trees has pledged to engage with students in other schools to increase planting of native trees. In 2021, Mr. Marsh started a new role representing Sierra Club’s Washington State Energy Committee, while continuing to advance the field of robotics as a technical contributor and shareholder of Olis Robotics. He currently holds two U.S. patents for object-oriented bitmap graphics and organizing processing units for digital image editing.
