During their travels, she frequently volunteered at the local schools until his military discharge. Equipped with her resounding experience across the United States in education-based philanthropy and childcare, she decided to open her own daycare center upon the family’s relocation to Virginia. Now living in Annandale, Virginia, Ms. Vaughn is the president and chief executive officer of Annandale PlayCare, Inc., which she has been maintaining for more than 30 years. Prior to embarking on her career, Ms. Vaughn pursued a higher education at Harcum College, where she earned an Associate of Arts in child psychology. Subsequently, she received a Bachelor of Arts in business administration from Strayer University in 2000. Although committed to her day care center, Ms. Vaughn also enjoys dedicating her time civically to several local initiatives, such as Catholic Charities and Always Shoes. Likewise, she previously partnered with the Commonwealth of Virginia to provide assistance to low-income families and volunteered in offices for childcare assistance programs. For her resounding efforts in the education and advancement of children, Ms. Vaughn was featured in her local newspaper. Additionally, between 2012 and 2019, Annandale Play-Care, Inc., was honored with the Child Care Center of the Community Award. Ms. Vaughn attributes her success to treating children as their own individuals and her innate affinity for providing themwith diverse experiences while in daycare. She emphasizes that children are “like sponges,” as they absorb everything around them. Thus, it is the adults’ responsibility to facilitate their minds correctly. Looking forward, Ms. Vaughn intends to continue writing her book. She is the proud mother of two daughters, one son and one foster son. She also has four grandchildren.
