184 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine HEALTH AND WELLNESS served as a faculty instructor at the University of Phoenix between 2004 and 2011. Certified in pain management through the American Society of Health-systems Pharmacists and in advanced cardiac life support and basic life support, Dr. Okabe-Yamamura has authored or coauthored articles, books and manuals, including the 10th through 12th editions of “Introduction to Drug Action: Pharmacy Technician Manual” between 2006 and 2012. Named a fellow of the California Society of Health-systems Pharmacists, she has been a foundation board member of the organization since 2017. Since 2021, Dr. OkabeYamamura has also served as chair-elect of their membership committee. Most recently named Pharmacist of the Year by Sacramento Valley chapter of the California Society of Health-systems Pharmacists in 2017, Dr. Okabe-Yamamura was also honored by the Mercy San Juan Medical Center and Sigma Theta Tau. During her high school years, Dr. Tracey Okabe-Yamamura enjoyed watching the pharmacists as they worked at a local pharmacy. Intrigued by the profession, she conducted research and discovered that clinical pharmacy was an emerging field at that time. In 1984, she earned a PharmD from the School of Pharmacy at the University of California San Francisco and, subsequently, completed a residency in clinical pharmacy at the University of California Irvine Medical Center in 1985. From there, Dr. OkabeYamamura joined the Pacific Hospital of Long Beach, where she served as a clinical pharmacist and clinical coordinator until 1999. Concurrently, Dr. Okabe-Yamamura joined Mercy San Juan Hospital in 1989, where she was a clinical coordinator from 1989 to 1993 and a pharmacy supervisor from 1993 to 1995. Since 1995, she has excelled as a clinical pharmacy manager and specialist at Dignity Health-Mercy San Juan Medical Center while congruently serving as a residency program director at Dignity Health Sacramento since 2016.
