76 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine EDUCATION An alumnus of the University of Michigan, Dr. Albert J. Ammerman earned a BA in English literature, which prompted his interest in interdisciplinary fields such as humanities and archaeology. In 1972, he earned a PhD at the Institute of Archaeology at University College London and, subsequently, commenced his career. Allocating his time extensively to bothNewYork and Italy formore than 40 years, Dr. Ammerman is acclaimed for his work with geneticist Luca Cavalli-Sforza, which brought together archaeology and human population genetics in the Neolithic transition in Europe. Additionally, Dr. Ammerman is a pioneer in environmental studies in ancient Rome and Venice. Vocationally, Dr. Ammerman served Colgate University between 1986 and 2019 as senior research associate, research professor, O’Connor Visiting Professor of Humanities, and, in 2020, was elected an international fellow of the Istituto Veneto di Scienze, Lettere ed Arti in Venice. Alongside other scholars, he recently established Archaeology LLC to raise funds for archaeological research. Prolifically published, Dr. Ammerman has written and edited eight books and has been featured in numerous journals. Presently, he is conducting research on projects in Venice, Rome and Paestum. ARCHAEOLOGIST, HUMANITIES EDUCATOR Istituto Veneto di Scienze, Lettere ed Arti Venice, Italy Drawing upon a BA in liberal arts and sciences from California State University in San Bernardino from 1992 and an MA from the University of La Verne from 1999, Janece D. Boyd has excelled as an educator for the Rialto Unified School District in California since 1996. In her role, she instructs students in English and language arts, particularly within the realm of reading skills and the English language learners’ program. Earlier in her career, Ms. Boyd was a substitute teacher for the Colton Joint Unified School District from 1993 to 1996 and an assistant at California State University from 1990 to 1991. Alongside her endeavors in academia, Ms. Boyd is a published poet and frequently dedicates her time to local politics. Through her political work, she has leveraged her compassionate nature to fight for low-income women and children, as well as the homeless population. A former volunteer for a women’s agenda project, she served the Neighborhood Bookkeeping and Tax Service for 20 years from 1970 to 1990.
