132 MILLENNIUM-SECOND EDITION A renowned figure in the field of psychology, Dr. Elaine A. Finnberg has amassed nearly 50 years of professional experience in her areas of expertise. A clinical psychologist in hospital practice since 1984, she additionally acts as a contract psychologist for the California Forensic Medical Group, a division of Correctional Medical Group Companies, and with Child Protective Services in the state of California. She also serves the state of California as a consulting psychologist with Adult Protective Services in Monterey County. The former president of the Mid-Coast Psychological Association, Dr. Finnberg is affiliated with the California Psychological Association, the American Psychological Association and the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies, among several others. She has also been serving as an expert witness panel member in the municipal and superior courts in the state of California since 1984. A former editor of The California Psychologist, Dr. Finnberg has contributed several articles to professional journals and been an invited speaker at conferences. Dr. Finnberg earned a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from Long Island University (LIU), a Master of Arts in psychology from The New School, and a Doctor of Philosophy in professional psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University. She has since been certified in geriatric psychology; advanced forensic psychology; psychopharmacology; neuropsychology and the law; anxiety and related disorders; psychotic, impulse control and related disorders; diagnosis of mood disorders; the Rorschach assessment of personality disorders; workers’ compensation for mental health; intermediate clinical neuropsychology; and behavioral neurology. Dr. Finnberg has accrued numerous accolades, including the Distinguished Service Award for Psychology from the Mid-Coast Psychological Association and the Distinguished Service Award from the California Psychological Association, and she was nominated for inclusion in “Outstanding Young Women in America” by the LIU Brooklyn Alumni Association.
