A Marquis Who's Who Magazine 319 A s a young adult, Dr. Robert J. Safransky resolved himself to pursuing whichever career path would allow him to have the most positive impact on the world. While very seriously considering a future in the Catholic priesthood, he spent a total of eight years in a combination of minor and major seminaries, ultimately graduating from the Saint Francis de Sales Seminary in 1957. Dr. Safransky then completed two years of service in the U.S. Army before deciding to shift his focus to education. As a high school history teacher, Dr. Safransky taught students about Americanism versus communism, as well as the implications of these conflicting ideologies. He was first recognized for his leadership potential as early as 1962, when he became the head of the social studies department and student council sponsor at Seminole High School for five years. From there, Dr. Safransky transitioned into administrative roles, serving as the director of junior high school prevocational programs and then adult vocational schools over the course of several decades. He particularly enjoyed helping teachers improve their methods and the overall learning process. Later in his career, Dr. Safransky served as director of administration with Pinellas County Schools from 1986 to 1991, assistant principal of Largo Middle School from 1991 to 1992, and as an administrator at the Walter Pownall Service Center from 1992 to 1997. Since the turn of the century, Dr. Safransky has maintained a strong interest in education law. To this end, he has served as an adjunct professor at Nova Southeastern University. He was selected to receive a Service Award from the Education Law Association in 2005, three years before he became a certified professional educator with the Florida Department of Education. Now retired, Dr. Safransky gained additional recognition as the director of Unit VI of the Florida Retired Educators Association, a position he held between 2011 and 2013. Featured in several editions of Who’s Who in America since 2010, he holds a Master of Arts from Stetson University and a PhD from Florida State University. ROBERT J.
