A Marquis Who's Who Magazine 389 A s a philosophy professor at the University of San Diego, Dr. Michael F. Wagner has amassed over 40 years of professional experience in academia. Dr. Wagner became interested inphilosophy watching hismother, who served as a grade school teacher her whole life. Wanting to pursue a similar career, he began tutoring in his undergraduate years for extra money. It was then that he became determined to earn a PhD and educate college students. With vast knowledge and experience, he teaches many subjects, including ethical theory, ethics in education, ethics of diversity, philosophy of human nature, ancient philosophy, medieval philosophy, modern European philosophy, philosophy of love and philosophy of religion. Awell-versedphilosopher, Dr.Wagnerhaswritten extensively in the field, including “The Enigmatic Reality of Time: Aristotle, Plotinus, and Today,” for which he received an award. Additionally, he has served as an editor and book reviewer and contributed articles to professional journals in his field of expertise. Also an avid researcher, he was named an international opportunity grantee by the University of San Diego in 2017. Dr. Wagner is recognizedasan IndustryExpert andDistinguished Worldwide Humanitarian. He is affiliated with the International Society for Neoplatonic Studies (ISNS), for which he has served as a member of the board of directors, treasurer and United States section secretary-treasurer since 1998, 2004 and 1982, respectively. He is also the former chair of the ISNS constitutional revisions committee. Newly partially retired and only teaching half of the year, Dr. Wagner attributes his success to the workethichereceived fromhisparents.Hebelieves that in order to succeed, one must put forth the time and effort needed to be confident.
