390 MILLENNIUM-SECOND EDITION W ith more than 40 years of experience in her field, Christine M. Waisanen is the founder and chief writer at Hill, Katzenstein & Waisanen. In her role, Ms. aisanen focuses on health, environment and safety legislation, as well as women’s employment opportunities. As the first female partner at her firm, she understands the importance of female leadership and enjoys making a difference in other people’s lives. After originally pursuing a career in psychology, Ms. Waisanen quickly turned to the legal industry in an effort to follow in her family’s footsteps. Prior to her current appointment, Ms. Waisanen held the roles of director of cultural affairs for the city of Wilmington in 1987; government relations specialist for ICI Americas, Inc.; and labor relations attorney for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Washington, D.C. She has maintained affiliation with the Federal Bar Association and was on the board of directors of the Women’s Republican Club of Wilmington from 1988 to 1993. She also briefly served as vice president of the Junior League of Wilmington in the mid-1980s and was president of the University of Michigan Club of Delaware from 1999 to 2005. Ms. Waisanen has been on the DuPont Experimental Station CAP since 1993 and has taught an advanced writer’s workshop at the University of Delaware’s Osher Lifelong Learning Institute since 2006. To prepare for her career, Ms. Waisanen pursued a formal education at the University of Michigan, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts, with honors, in 1971. She subsequently earned a JD from the University of Denver in 1975. She has since been admitted to practice by the Colorado Bar and the District of Columbia Bar. As former chairman of the Delaware State Coastal Zone Industrial Control Board, Ms. Waisanen provided an example for protecting the nation’s shorelines. In 2016, she was ordained as a Stephen Minister. Ms. Waisanen has been selected for inclusion in several editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Law, Who’s Who in the World, and Who’s Who of American Women. CHRISTINE M.
